First Tuesday Archive

Just for the record...... COMPLETED SESSIONS

----------

February's meeting on the 6th.

A catching up with the flow of Richard Jefferies' River Severn project.

December meeting on the  5th

NOTE THIS WILL BE IN THE VICTORY CLUB DINING ROOM ON THE GROUND FLOOR OPPOSITE THE BAR.

Panels & PechaKucha!

Led by John Clare.

The focus on single images is a frustration for many camera club members.

This evening examines two ways of overcoming this:

Part 1 focuses on panels, including triptychs and diptychs. With a contribution from Colin Trow-Poole FRPS FIPF

who gave such a great talk at CCC in October

Part 2 introduces PechaKucha - a great way of telling a story: 20 photos, 20 secs each.

With a guest appearance by Mike Taylor, whose PechKucha presentation was one of the highlights of the

Northern Eye Festival in Wales in October.

An unmissable evening!

-----

January 2024 meeting on the 9th  - actually the 2nd second Tuesday (for obvious reasons.)

We will again be meeting in the roomier ground floor dining room  of The Victory Club (opposite the bar) in anticipation of an enthusiastic crowd to  join with Richard McCleery in exploring the mysteries and options for both on and off camera flash'.  Along the way Richard will explain the fundamental importance of light and lighting in photography. Not to be missed - bring along your camera, and flash-gun (AKA speedlight) if you have one.

November meeting on the 7th

A hands on evening assembling personal momentoes into a sort-of-but-not-quite still life emulating the style and techniques of Nettie Edwards who gave us a presentation  a few seasons ago. Nettie is local, but is appreciated nationally and internationally, often  under her working name Lumilyon - including on Instagram and website.

Nettie's website is https://www.lumilyon.co.uk/ For a bit of inspiration have her look at the sections titled 'grave goods', 'the fabric of photography' and 'taken from memory'.

Several of us will be bringing tripods along, in case you don't have one, and there will be sufficient lights (possibly photographic LEDs) for you to be able to take your photographs after you have completed your arrangement. Part of the process is likely to be discussing your aims with other members and hopefully picking up helpful hints. Small arrangements could  need a close up filter, extension tubes or a macro lens.

A bit of repetition here , bear with me, in some extra notes made after a long telephone chat with Nettie. She cannot be with us unfortunately, as she is contributing to a Photographic Convention in Paris, but she is very  interested in our results - so no poessure then!

Nettie sees us as ‘Explorers of the World’, but here we take a narrower view and explore personal and family memories through photogenic arrangements of mementoes. It’s a bit of a wrench from usual club subject matter. But a bit of effort, helped along by chat amongst us, will surely reap rewards.  Nettie suggest enhancement by  printing  out on unconventional material   - but not all  printer allow that.  However, she stresses making it fun and not too melancholic.

So bring along those bits & pieces, bills,  letters, tickets and other stuff,  plus some background if be relevant . Think about textures. And think about A4-ish as the overall size.
