FAQ's

Do you welcome beginners?
Yes! We welcome anyone to the club regardless of ability or experience. If you love photography and want to improve, there are numerous events in our varied programme, and many members that are happy to help you.

When does my Membership expire?
Membership lasts for 12 months. The meeting season runs from September to September with additional trips and meetings during the rest of the year. You will automatically be reminded to renew before the following season

Can I try a meeting before committing?
Definitely. You can come to 3 consecutive meetings, each £3 (refundable when you join) and see how you like it, meet other members and ask as many questions as you like.

I can't always make it to a meeting every week.
That's quite OK. The programme is published on the website and you are free to attend as many meetings as you like. Often some of the most interesting events are those you think might not be! Sometimes events are recorded so you can catch up later too.

Competitions are not my thing!
There is absolutely no requirement to enter any competitions if you prefer not to! You may find that attending a competition evening and listening to the judge's comments can be extremely helpful in helping to improve your own photography, even if you don't always agree with them(!)

Do I need an expensive camera?
Absolutely not! The club is for everyone using their preferred equipment and have members using everything from smart phones through to the latest equipment. Equipment doesn't make a good photograph, the photographer does. if you are looking to change equipment, buy second hand items, you will find plenty of people happy to share experience and advice.

I still have questions, who can I ask?
Please feel free to email the membership secretary or our chair person. They are always pleased to help.
