Studio Group

The Studio Group, which is part of the Camera Club, but financially self-supporting, meets once a month throughout the year on a very informal basis. The aim is to improve our (mainly studio) photography whilst having as much pleasure as possible going about it. In the winter, use is made of the Club's lighting equipment, usually taking portraits of volunteer models indoors. In return, the models get a set of prints from the session. A recent subject was the Mayor of Cheltenham who was photographed in the Mayor's Parlour. Other celebrity subjects are being sought. In the summer the Group looks for lively venues outdoors. These have included model ''shoots'' in private gardens and searches for characters at crowded Fayres. The idea of impromptu e-mail competitions with an invited judge is being tried. The range of activities could be widened if there is a demand, for instance there is an interest in Church interiors.

During the 2006 - 7 season, the Studio Group were asked by a musical duo called "Just the Two of Us" to take take some photographs to help promote their (semi-professional) musical talents. As the group needed some models so it seemed a "win-win" situation. The Studio Group welcomed the challenge and really enjoyed trying to produce very individual entries.
